Meet the Team

This is the team that makes Sold Out actually run.

They’re the ones shipping your orders, processing collections, pricing inventory, listing records online, answering questions, digging through endless boxes of used vinyl, and cleaning the absolutely filthy records people somehow kept in their garage for 40 years.

They’re also the people waking up at 4am for Record Store Day, surviving release day chaos, arguing about music at the counter, and helping customers find their next favorite album every single day.

And check out their essential albums

We asked the staff to pick the albums they think every great record store should always have in stock — the records people constantly ask for, the gateway albums that turn people into collectors, and the classics we never get tired of recommending.

To keep things interesting, we asked everyone to leave out albums already featured in our Rolling Stone Magazine Top 50 Albums collection. That led to a much more fun mix of essentials, overlooked classics, personal staples, and records that deserve way more love than they usually get.

These aren’t necessarily “greatest albums of all time” lists. They’re the records our staff genuinely thinks belong in the bins.

Why These Records?

  • Albums we constantly recommend in-store
  • Records every collector should hear at least once
  • Proven customer favorites and perennial best sellers
  • Gateway albums for discovering new genres
  • Staff personal favorites we never stop spinning
  • Essential albums outside the usual “greatest albums” lists

Basically, this is the crew behind the scenes — and the records they think matter.
