Aldo

If you come by Sold Out after work, there’s a very good chance you'll run into Aldo. He’s part of the retail team and the anchor for closing the store five days a week — helping customers, keeping the floor together, and making sure the shop survives the day.

Growing up, Aldo listened to a mix of alternative, indie, rock, hip-hop, and Mexican music, but his taste has changed constantly over the years. According to him, working at a record store completely changed the way he listens to music, and his taste is still evolving all the time.

His all-time favorites range all over the map: The Smiths, Metallica, Dr. Dre, and Johnny Cash. Lately he’s been listening to a lot more jazz, while still rotating through hip-hop, oldies, lowrider oldies, and rock en español.

One of the best things about Aldo’s picks is that they feel exactly like the shop itself — a little bit of everything, constantly changing, and impossible to pin down to one genre.

Ask him for recommendations and there’s a decent chance he’ll point you toward Miles Davis or Pink Floyd, defend Sabrina Carpenter at all costs, or somehow connect the conversation back to Jazz or Hip/Hop.

Favorite record in his collection? Aja by Steely Dan
Biggest ISO? All 98 Blue Note 1500 series records and Japanese pressings with obi strips. Basically the kind of stuff that makes record store employees suddenly stop what they’re doing and say “wait… let me see that.”
Best score he's ever found in the wild? Ellington & Coltrane found at Sold Out
When did he starting working here? April 2025
Favorite thing about working at Sold Out? The people and the flexibility.

Most controversial music opinion: It's not hard to seperate the art from the artist.
