About the Role
This is a fast-paced, hands-on position — not a job where you’ll just sit around listening to records all day. As an employee at Sold Out Vinyl Records, you’ll be on your feet constantly: cleaning, sorting, organizing, alphabetizing, answering phones, assisting customers, pulling orders, and keeping the store running smoothly. You’ll help fulfill both local pickup and online shipping orders, maintain a clean and organized shop, and ensure every customer has an excellent experience. If you love music and thrive in a physically demanding, dynamic environment, this is the role for you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pick, pack, and ship online orders accurately and efficiently
  • Receive incoming shipments and verify contents
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and organize stock
  • Coordinate with carriers for pickups and deliveries
  • Resolve shipping or delivery issues promptly
  • Assist with other store tasks as needed

What Else You’ll Do

  • Greet and assist customers with music recommendations, product questions, and checkout

  • Restock bins, rotate displays, and maintain a clean and inviting store layout

  • Operate the POS system for sales, returns, and exchanges

  • Handle cash and credit transactions accurately and responsibly

  • Support in-store events and promotions

  • Keep up-to-date with new arrivals and store inventory

  • Assist with daily cleaning tasks — floors, windows, trash, and bathrooms

  • Alphabetize, sort, and organize stock, including new arrivals

  • Answer phones and coordinate with customers regarding purchases, pickups, and sales

  • Operate record players and other physical media players to preview and demonstrate music for customers

  • Pull and pack local pickup orders and online shipping orders accurately and efficiently

Physical Requirements

  • Comfortable standing for extended periods during shifts

  • Frequent bending, lifting, and moving while stocking bins and helping customers find records

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs, including assisting customers with their record collections in and out of the store

  • Must be able to stay active throughout the shift — constantly up and down, cleaning, sorting, and assisting

What We’re Looking For

  • Friendly, approachable, and reliable team player

  • Willingness to clean and maintain a tidy store environment

  • Comfortable handling and playing physical media (records, CDs, tapes)

  • Knowledge of music across genres (bonus if you’re a collector yourself!)

  • Retail or customer service experience preferred

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills

  • Able to work in a physically demanding, fast-paced environment

Perks of Working With Us

  • Staff discount on records and merchandise

  • Fun, music-centered work environment

  • Opportunities to learn more about music, retail and collecting

  • Be part of a local, independent shop that’s all about community

  • Free tickets to select events
