Product Description
Having first met while performing on the street in New Orleans, LA, Vaiano's Paisanos sports a repertoire of music first recorded by New York's immigrant string bands in the 1920s and '30s whose origins span the American, African, and European continents. Vaiano's Paisanos was started by Rachel Meirs (violin, mandolin), Maxwell Poulos (mandolin, tenor banjo, tenor guitar) and Van Burchfield (guitar). This album represents three virtuoso musicians, performing a unique mix of rare international and American musical traditions from rare 78s. Meirs has played with Sierra Ferrell, Chris Acker, Riley Downing, Vaden Landers, and the late Luke Bell. They have performed at the Brooklyn Folk Fest and the Subdued Stringband Jamboree
