Product Description
Sky Blue Vinyl. We are very excited to release Lift, a re-interpretation of Tracy's breakthrough album The Burdens of Being Upright which was released in 1996 and spawned three singles, "Sharks", "The One" and her Number One Modern Rock smash and MTV staple "Mother Mother." Lift celebrates the 30th anniversary of her debut with brand new takes on that album with versions that reflect the experience and savvy she's collected over the last three decades."As the title suggests, I am lifting past burdens and old beliefs. The songs are the same songs from my 1996 debut album. They have the same fire and energy, but they are treated much differently, which comes from self-healing and transcending the trauma of abusive relationships. This album takes the anger and angst of my youth and creates something even more powerful-the confident wisdom of a woman who finally knows herself. Initially, I had wanted to record the album for string quartet and vocals only. Eventually my co-producer, Ken Rich, and I started calling friends and musicians to come into the studio and now it has everything. It is a big sounding and complex album" -Tracy BonhamProduced by Tracy Bonham and Ken Rich. Recorded and mixed by Ken Rich at Grand Street Recording, Brooklyn, NY. Mastered by Fred Kevorkian. Lacquers cut by Scott Hull at Masterdisk. Cover photo by George DuBose. Back Cover photo by David Young. Design by Aaron Tanner.
