Product Description

Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh called avant garde composer Charles Ives one of his two greatest influences. In 1974, he went with Owsley "Bear" Stanley to record John Kirkpatrick play the Concord Sonata for the centennial celebration of Ives. Fifty years later, Donald Berman, the last student of Kirkpatrick, made a new live recording of the Concord for the 150th anniversary. Together they are a tribute to Charles Ives, to the music of Phil Lesh, and to the enduring influence of Ives on the music of the Grateful Dead.
