Pre-Order: Fouk - Mighty Lover [12" Vinyl]

Hot on the heels of the Get It Done EP and their standout contribution to 30 Years Of Freerange Vol. 2, Dutch duo Fouk return to Freerange with four more cuts of beautifully crafted, groove-heavy house music.Taking center stage on the Mighty Lover EP is Dutch vocalist LYMA, a singer and songwriter whose soulful, expressive vocal style has seen him collaborate with the likes of Folamour, Makèz, Marcel Vogel, and Inkswel to name a few. Here he brings a powerful, emotive presence to Fouk's production, with his vocal sitting front and center over the duo's trademark warmth and musicality. Crisp, shuffling beats, killer pads and beautifully worked-out musical details provide the backdrop, while LYMA's incredible vocal gives the track it's real emotional pull. Deep, soulful, and effortlessly groovy, this is Fouk doing what they do best.Next up, The Message is another perfect example of why people are loving Fouk so much right now. Soulful and jazzy with an uplifting quality running right through it, there's plenty of musical depth here without ever losing sight of the dancefloor. Crunchy drums and raw textures give the track a little grit around the edges, while the warm chords and infectious groove keep the energy levels high.Flipping over we have Higher State, which drops us straight into another slice of deep, warm, and seriously groovy house music. Tasty chords and killer Moog lines provide the hooks, while a dynamic arrangement keeps the track constantly evolving without ever overplaying it's hand. Loose, funky, and deeply infectious.Things take a more melancholic turn with closing track Long Way Home. A stripped-back groove provides the framework for beautiful synth work and an understated arrangement that slowly unfolds without the need for constant builds and drops. There's a spacious, late-night quality to this one, with subtle layers gradually revealing themselves as the track develops. Deep, reflective, and beautifully restrained, it's a fitting way to close the release.
