Everything You Need to Know About Record Store Day Black Friday 2025: FAQs Answered

How do you get records from Record Store Day Black Friday?

To get RSD Black Friday releases, you’ll need to visit a participating independent record store in person on Friday, November 28th. Most stores open early, and lines often start forming hours before doors open. It’s first-come, first-served—stores aren’t allowed to hold or reserve any exclusives. If there’s something specific you’re after, make a plan and show up early. Good news, we're one of those stores and we will be open at 6am!

How do you shop on Record Store Day Black Friday?

Here’s how to make the most of it:

  • Make a list: Check the official RSD Black Friday list ahead of time and highlight what you’re after. We have all of the products being offered HERE: Record Store Day Black Friday 2025

  • Find a store: Use the RSD store locator to find participating shops. If you’re in Colorado, we’ve got you covered.

  • Arrive early: Releases are limited and the popular stuff goes quick. We open at 6am.

  • Know the store’s system: Every store runs RSD differently. Some use number systems, others let people line up and browse. Ask us about dibs!

  • Be cool: Everyone’s there for the same reason—keep it respectful and enjoy the day.

Do people camp out for RSD Black Friday?

Yes. For big titles, collectors will start lining up early—sometimes even the night before. If you’re aiming for something that’s in high demand or low quantity, plan to be in line well before doors open. Bring a chair, dress warm, and be ready to wait.

What time should I get to the store? (our #1 question)

It depends on what you’re after and how busy your local shop gets—but earlier is always better if you’re hoping to grab something limited.

At our April 2025 Record Store Day event, the first people showed up at 11 AM the day before. That’s not typical—they were on their own for several hours before anyone else arrived. The majority of people started showing up between 2–4 AM. By 4 AM, a solid line had formed in the parking lot, and by the time we opened at 6 AM, the line wrapped around the entire lot and out onto Broadway.

We order a large amount of product for Record Store Day to give as many people as possible a shot at the titles they want. In April, we were able to check out the entire line within a few hours, and the first 40 people in line all got at least one thing they came for. We had top requested products from Gracie Abrams, Laufey, Charli XCX, Wallows, Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Eddie Vedder and many more in stock for hours after we opened. Several top titles made it to our online sale the following day.

We expect Record Store Day Black Friday to be busy, but probably not quite as intense as the April event. Still, if there’s something specific on your list, it’s best to arrive early. Dress for the weather, bring a chair, and be ready to wait a bit.

Sold Out Vinyl Records is located at 3751 South Broadway in Englewood, Colorado, two blocks south of Hampden on the west side of Broadway. We have a large, secure private parking lot, and most early arrivals hang near their cars until the line starts forming. There’s overflow parking available on Broadway if needed.

What is a Record Store Day Black Friday release?

These are limited-edition records—vinyl (and occasionally CDs or cassettes)—made specifically for the RSD Black Friday event. Releases range from previously unreleased material to colored vinyl variants, reissues, live recordings, and more. You won’t find them at big box stores or online (at least not right away), and quantities are usually limited.

Can RSD Black Friday titles be repressed?

It depends. RSD breaks down releases into a few categories:

  • Exclusives – Only available on RSD and usually not repressed.

  • RSD First – Premieres on RSD but may be released more widely later.

  • Small Run/Regional – Limited releases for specific regions or niche audiences; may or may not be repressed, and often not in the same format.

If there’s something you know you want, don’t wait around—get it when you see it.

Can I order Record Store Day releases online?

Not on the day of the event and definitely before the event. RSD rules don’t allow online sales of exclusives until the day after. Leftover stock can be listed online starting Saturday, November 29th.

Our online sale for RSD Black Friday leftovers will go live on Saturday, November 29th at 6 AM MST.
